MIDDLE TENNESSEE

Daniel McKee School Built c.1958 in the Shiloh community of Rutherford County, Tennessee.

Townsend School Originally built in 1933 in Winchester, Franklin County to replace a burned Rosenwald School, the Townsend School plant was expanded substantially with additions in 1949 and 1954. The school board funded the construction of a new, detached gymnasium in 1962, the year before families in Franklin County sued the local board of education for the district’s inaction on integration nearly a decade after Brown.
